Rajganj’s Rajani Tea Garden re-opened after four long months

Rajganj, 04th January: After being closed for four long months, the Rajani Tea Garden in Rajganj finally re-opened today.

It is to be noted that on September 03 last year, the owners had shut down the garden due to the movement staged by the labourers demanding payment of salary and bonus. As a result, around 75 workers of the garden were left with no source of living and were under severe crisis.

Tapan Dey, joint general secretary of the central committee of the Terai Dooars Plantation Workers Union (TDPW), said that the garden was closed for four months and re-opened today after holding discussions with the owners. The employers have also agreed to pay the arrears of wages, bonuses, and gratuities to the workers within the next 15 days.

Manatosh Roy, manager of Rajani Tea Garden, said that the garden has re-opened in the first week of the year and the arrears of the workers will be settled after holding discussions.
