Siliguri, 11th August: A four-wheeler crashed into a road divider after one of its tyres reportedly burst near Buraburi Mandir on the Eastern Bypass in Siliguri, narrowly avoiding a major accident involving four passengers and pedestrians.
According to the driver, the vehicle was travelling from Ashighar More towards Kankata More when one of its tyres suddenly burst, causing the driver to lose control before the vehicle crashed into the divider.
Four passengers travelling in the vehicle reportedly escaped unhurt in the incident.
Police from Ashighar Outpost reached the spot soon after receiving the information and took the damaged vehicle to the outpost.
Meanwhile, local residents alleged that the driver was in an intoxicated condition. They claimed that the vehicle first hit the divider, following which the tyre burst.
Police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
