Rajganj police arrests detain 7 in alleged bulk cash smuggling 

Rajganj, 20th August: In what is believed to be a bulk cash smuggling case, Rajganj police with the promptness of the local people detained seven people and seized two vehicles bearing the Bihar number. 


According to sources, at around 10 am today, a speeding small four-wheeler holding a Bihar number plate entered Mahanpara village. Unable to find an alternative route to dodge the Rajganj border road, the vehicle once again headed towards the paved road of the border. Two people including the driver were in the said vehicle.


To make the matter more peculiar, another vehicle with a Bihar number plate shortly arrived on the same road. Five people were seated in the vehicle. They approached the locals of the area and claimed that the men in the previous car were apparently running away with cash worth Rs 7 crore. Acting promptly, the locals stopped both the vehicles in Chaulhati area and informed the Rajganj police. The seven people travelling in both vehicles were detained by the cops for interrogation. The detained have been identified as Rahul Kumar, Shubheshwar Pratap Shahi, Chaman Raj, Sanjeev Kumar, Vishal Kumar, Gautam Kumar and Sail Suman. All are residents of Bihar. 

Sanjeev Kumar, who was travelling in the second vehicle, said that the duo, Rahul and Subheshwar, in the previous vehicle runs a tour and travel agency together. Rahul used to work in the army. Sanjeev Kumar further alleged that the duo had bought the vehicle in the name of another man assuring to pay the instalments and also the rent to the owner every month. Despite this, the duo did not pay any instalments or rent. They have allegedly duped hundreds of people of about Rs 7 crore by executing the same plan. 

Speaking in this regard, Rajganj police station IC Pankaj Sarkar said that two vehicles of Bihar number have been seized after they received information about the men fleeing with Rs 7 crore. However, only Rs 1 lakh 22 thousand were recovered from the vehicle. Seven people in both vehicles have been taken into custody and will be interrogated. Furthermore, all the accused will be handed over to Bihar Police.
