Rajganj, 03rd September: A man committed suicide after learning about his son’s death in an accident. The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday night in the Kajipara area of Ambari Belakoba state highway in Rajganj. The deceased has been identified as Bikash Roy. Another youth, identified as Sanjoy Roy was severely injured in the accident.
According to the locals, the two youths were returning home from Siliguri on a motorcycle, during which their vehicle collided head-on with a pickup van in the aforementioned area, killing Bikash on the spot.
Meanwhile, after receiving the news of his son’s death in the accident, Sunil Roy, father of the deceased youth, was found hanging from a noose.
Later on Thursday morning, locals staged a road blockade demanding compensation to the deceased’s family. Upon receiving the news, Rajganj MLA Khageshwar Roy, BDO NC Sherpa, Trinamool leader Krishna Das and Belakoba outpost police reached the spot to take stock of the situation. After the administration assured to help the mourning family, the locals lifted the blockade.
