‘Rail Roko Andolan’ across North Bengal in demand for a separate Kamtapuri state disrupts rail services in Maynaguri

Maynaguri, 06th December: Kamtapur People’s Party has once again started the ‘Rail Roko’ movement in the entire North Bengal in demand of a separate state. Today the protestors joined the agitation at Maynaguri station in Jalpaiguri.


The demonstrators protested by sitting on the railway line disrupting the railway services in which the Kanchenjunga Express was halted. Shortly after, a huge police force was deployed on the spot to control the situation. Reportedly, due to the agitation of the Kamtapur People’s Party, passenger trains and freight trains were stopped at various stations today. Many passengers have been facing troubles due to disruption in train operations since morning. 

Earlier, the Kamtapur People’s Party had launched protests several times to declare North Bengal as a separate state. However, the protesters called off the agitation after some time.
