Rail boundary wall under construction in Kashmir Colony in Siliguri; Mayor inspects after resident complaints

Siliguri, 23rd December: The Indian Railways has decided to construct a boundary wall in the Kashmir Colony area of Ward No. 32 in Siliguri to demarcate its property. However, it has raised concerns among residents regarding the inconvenience caused by the wall. Several residents contacted the mayor through the ‘Talk to Mayor’ initiative to assess the situation.

On Monday morning, Mayor Gautam Deb, Ward No. 04 Chairperson Jayanta Saha and Ward No. 32 Councillor Tapas Chatterjee visited the Kashmir Colony area to inspect the ongoing construction. The mayor thoroughly reviewed the situation and spoke to residents about their concerns.

Following the inspection, the Mayor stated that the construction of the boundary wall is an initiative by the Railways and falls under their jurisdiction. However, this wall will cause difficulties for the locals. As a result, a meeting with the Railway authorities will be arranged to address these issues.
