Protesting wrestlers to throw their medals into Ganga river in Haridwar and fast unto death at India Gate

Indian wrestlers agitating against the alleged sexual harassment of female wrestlers by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) President, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh have taken a bold step of shedding their medals in the Holy Ganga. In this regard, India’s top-performing wrestlers including Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, and Sakshi Malik have left for Haridwar.


Notably, these renowned Indian wrestlers were protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar since the 23rd of April alleging sexual harassment and indecency towards female wrestlers by WFI President Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Speaking in this regard, the wrestlers said that they will give up their medals by throwing in the Ganga at Haridwar at 6 pm today. Additionally, the wrestlers have also taken a pledge to fast unto death at the India Gate in Delhi.

This comes after the wrestlers protesting at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar were arrested by the police following which the protest ended on Sunday. They were released by Monday night. Meanwhile, after their release, the wrestlers took the bold decision to throw their medals in the Holy Ganges.
