Protest march in Kharibari against threats of sexual assault towards teen

Kharibari, 13th January: A protest march was held in Kharibari today by the Bangiya Hindu Mahamanch and the Kharibari Women’s Protection Committee in response to the recent incident where a teenager was threatened with sexual assault and molestation while returning home from tuition.


The protestors demanded strict punishment for the accused and justice for the victim. The march began at the Matri Mandir in Kharibari and proceeded to Kharibari Market. It culminated in a sit-in protest at the Kharibari bus stand, located on the state highway connecting Ghoshpukur and Kharibari.

Bikramaditya Mandal, president of the Bangiya Hindu Mahamanch’s Siliguri branch, condemned the incident and called for severe punishment for the perpetrators. He also expressed anger towards the administration for failing to deliver justice to the victim, referencing the earlier R.G. Kar case. The protestors called for immediate action and a fair investigation into the matter.
