Protest against speeding bikes in Siliguri cost a family dearly, mercilessly thrashed amidst crowd

Siliguri, 10th February: Sensation ensued in the area of Ward No. 37 Ghogomali area after a family was mercilessly thrashed amidst a crowd. Jai Lal Ghosh, a resident of Ghoghomali, his brother, wife, and nephew had to pay a huge price for protesting against speeding bikes. The whole incident transpired in front of the people, but they remained mute spectators. 


Reportedly, there was a wedding nuptial in the Ghogomali area on Thursday night during which people from the groom’s side were coming from Matigara Shishudangi. Many of the youths had reached with bikes and allegedly drove recklessly at high speed. After this, a resident of the said ward Jai Lal Ghosh opposed such careless driving. 

Allegedly, the bike riders thrashed Jai Lal Ghosh and his entire family was also badly beaten up leaving them seriously injured. The ruckus transpired in front of many locals, but no one came to the rescue. After the incident, Jai Lal Ghosh lodged a written complaint about the incident at Ashighar Out Post. After this, the police started investigating the matter with the help of CCTV footage.
