Professor audio scandal: Trinamool Chhatra Parishad stages sit-in protest at NBU

Siliguri, 14th September: A professor demanded an amount of Rs 10,000 from a student to help her obtain passing grades in the examinations. As soon as the audio clip was streamed in Siliguri Times on Thursday, a stir was created across the entire city and beyond.


In this context,Siliguri college principal Dr Sujit Ghosh stated that the voice in the audio clip matches the voice of Amitava Kanjilal, professor of Political Science Department in Siliguri College.


On the other hand,the student from whom the money was demanded also lodged a complaint against the accused professor in Siliguri College.Besides,North Bengal University Registrar Dilip Ghosh lodged a complaint against Kanjilal at the Matigara Police Station.Also,the Darjeeling District Trinamool President Ranjan Sarkar,on Saturday, submitted a memorandum to Ghosh in this concern.

Meanwhile, the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad launched demonstrations at Siliguri College and NBU and declared today as ‘Black Day’. Reortedly, the Trinamool Chhatra Parishad members staged a sit-in protest at NBU and burnt the effigy of Amitava Kanjilal. The protestors demanded strict punishment for the accused.
