Siliguri, 05th November: The Pradhan Nagar police station has successfully unveiled the mystery of ‘Stoneman’ murder case. A youth identified as Kamala Pandit has been arrested in connection to the incident.
Reportedly, Kamala Pandit is a resident of Rajendra Nagar Colony, Ward No. 1 under Siliguri Municipal Corporation. He is said to have various past criminal records.
According to police sources, Stoneman Kamala Pandit was taken into custody two days ago for interrogation, during which, he confessed to killing a man by hitting him on the head with a heavy stone after robbing him
Kunwar Bhushan Singh, West Zone DCP of Siliguri Metropolitan Police, said that the body of a person was recovered near the Siliguri Junction railway station under Pradhan Nagar police station on October 06.
The accused has been finally arrested and a case has been registered against him under sections 302 and 201 of the IPC. Kamala Pandit was produced at the court today and an appeal has been made on behalf of the police to take him into remand for 10 days.
It is to be noted that on October 06, the body of a man having his head crushed under a large stone was recovered from Siliguri Junction area. Since the incident, the identity of the deceased and the accused was constantly being searched.
The stone used to commit the crime was also recovered from the spot by the police. Meanwhile, the police searched the CCTV footage at the army camp near the spot. Which led to the identification of the infamous ‘Stoneman’ Kamala Pandit.
