Pradhan Nagar police rescue missing minor from NJP station, two youths arrested

Siliguri, 25th February: 13-year-old minor went missing on Wednesday, from the Champasari area under Ward No. 46 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation. The minor's family lodged a case of kidnapping at Pradhan Nagar police station on the same night alleging two of her friends to be behind the act.

Acting promptly, the police, in plain attire, searched for the minor in the NJP station and successfully rescued her from the Dibrugarh Delhi Express train last night. Two youths were also arrested in connection to the incident. Both the arrested minor youths are residents of UP.

Addressing our correspondent while on his way to the court, one of the arrested minor youth Ajay (name changed), made some shocking revelations. He confessed to being in a love affair with the minor girl Nikita (name changed) after they met each other on social media. Allegedly, the duo wanted to marry each other. Ajay further stated that he had come to Siliguri a year ago too and that Nikita had come to receive him at the NJP station. He alleged that Nikita had asked him to come to Siliguri this time too. Apparently, the duo had planned to get married and was on their way to Delhi. However, the police nabbed the youths just in time.

As per the report, the Pradhan Nagar police has sent the rescued minor for medical treatment, today. While the arrested youths were presented in the Darjeeling court.

On the other hand, the family of the minor girl has claimed the statement of Ajay to be baseless. They strongly alleged that he was trying to abduct their daughter by intoxicating her.
