Siliguri, 04th April: Acting on a tip-off, the undercover cops of Pradhan Nagar police station arrested a youth with a firearm from near the Mahananda Colony Diesel Shed under Siliguri’s Ward No. 01, last night. The accused has been identified as Kamal Pandit (20), a resident of Kulipara Rajendra Nagar.
According to police sources, Kamal Pandit was arrested in the year 2020 for the murder of a person near Siliguri’s Junction. He was later released on bail but continued to indulge in several criminal activities like burglary. He was arrested once again and was again released on bail a few days back. The police presumed that Kamal might have been on his way to commit another robbery last night, but was nabbed just in time.
The notorious burglar was presented in the Siliguri court today and a case for illegal possession of weapons and planning a criminal incident has been filed against him. The police are probing this whole matter thoroughly.
