Pradhan Nagar Police bust gang of snatchers, two arrested

Siliguri, 11th December: The undercover cops of the Pradhan Nagar police station busted a gang involved in snatching activities in Siliguri. Two youths associated with the gang have been arrested. The arrested accused have been identified as Tushar Roy alias Bob and Rahul Vishwas alias Mitthu, both residents of Baghajatin Colony of Ward No. 45 under the jurisdiction of the Pradhan Nagar police station.


According to information received from police sources, on December 9 night, a woman was returning home from work when two youths, riding a scooter came from behind, snatched the woman’s bag, and fled from the scene. The incident occurred near Sister Nivedita School in Pradhan Nagar. The following day, the woman filed a written complaint at Pradhan Nagar police station.

Based on the complaint, the police initiated an investigation and identified the members of the gang with the help of CCTV footage. Within 12 hours, the two accused involved in the incident were arrested by the police.


On Monday, the accused were presented before the Siliguri court. Meanwhile, the police suspect Tushar and Rahul to be involved in a larger gang carrying out similar activities on citizens walking along the streets in the evening and night. Currently, the entire matter is under further investigation.
