Potato farmers protest against cold storage bonds in Alipurduar

Alipurduar, 26th February: After working tirelessly day and night to produce crops, the local farmers are deprived of bonds for storing them in cold storage. The local farmers have alleged that the authorities of North Parokata cold storage in Kumargram block are selling the bonds to the local TMC leaders.

Reportedly, the local potato farmers have been protesting in front of the cold storage since Friday morning. Alipurduar BJP MP John Barla rushed to the spot after receiving the news of the incident.

Barla held a long discussion with the manager of the cold storage. Later, he asked the authorities to give bonds to the local farmers within 7 days. The MP said that instead of local farmers, bonds were apparently being given to the TMC leaders.

He warned of demonstrating in front of the cold storage if the problems of the farmers are not solved within seven days. However, he was reluctant to address the media after interacting with the manager of the cold storage.

Meanwhile, the local farmers warned to shut down the cold storage if they are deprived of bonds.
