Siliguri, 13th February: Unrest erupted in Siliguri’s Ward no-35 after the Siliguri Municipal Corporation election concluded on Saturday.
Allegedly, some people were attacked in the Daspara area of Ward no-35. After the incident, residents complained that some youths under the leadership of local TMC leaders and Joydeep Nandi, the husband of candidate Shampa Nandi, attacked some of them. Later NJP police reached the spot and normalized the situation.
However, Joydeep Nandi denied all allegations and said that CPIM had been trying to create unrest in the area since yesterday morning. They were attacked at night and the vehicle of a worker was also vandalized.
