Police recovered 16 stolen bicycles in Bagdogra, five arrested

Bagdogra, 22nd February: In a significant breakthrough, the cops of Bagdogra police station recovered 16 stolen bicycles and apprehended five youths in connection to the case. The arrested accused have been identified as Ranit Lohar, Ravi Oraon, Jugal Baraik, Karan Lohar, and Bishat Oraon, all are residents of the Kamalpur Tea Estate area of Bagdogra.


According to reports, on Wednesday night the cops of Bagdogra police station received a tip-off information that five youths were spotted with five expensive bicycles in the Singhijhora area. Subsequently, the police apprehended the five youths along with the bicycles. Upon interrogation, they failed to provide appropriate information and were brought to Bagdogra police station. Later, during further interrogation, they revealed that the bicycles were stolen from different locations, which prompted their immediate arrest.

Later the police retrieved 11 more stolen bicycles from different areas of Bagdogra. The market value of a total of 16 recovered bicycles is estimated to be about Rs 5 lakhs. Police sources revealed that the accused stole bicycles from various locations including Bagdogra and sold them in Siliguri as well as in surrounding areas and Nepal. On Thursday, the accused were produced before the Siliguri Court. Currently, the police are engaged in further investigation.
