Police recover a dozen stolen cycles during a cycle theft investigation in Siliguri, 2 arrested

Siliguri, 31st March: In a significant breakthrough, the Matigara police have apprehended two individuals and recovered a dozen stolen bicycles. The arrested suspects have been identified as Tapan Barman and Dipankar Debnath.


According to police sources, a bicycle theft occurred on March 22 at a vacant house near Phansidewa More under the jurisdiction of Matigara police station. The homeowner filed a complaint at the police station on Saturday regarding the incident. Subsequently, the police took Tapan Barman and Dipankar Debnath into custody for interrogation based on suspicion.

During interrogation, both suspects admitted to their involvement in the theft. As a result, the police successfully retrieved 12 stolen bicycles hidden in different areas within the police station’s jurisdiction. On Sunday, the police presented both the accused in Siliguri court as part of legal proceedings. At present, the entire case is undergoing further investigation.
