Police raid abandoned railway quarter transformed into a drug den in Siliguri, one arrested

Siliguri, 02nd August: The police officials of the New Jalpaiguri (NJP) police station launched an operation and conducted a raid in the abandoned railway quarter in the Central Colony area of Siliguri and apprehended an individual on Wednesday.


As per reports, outsiders are frequently observed arriving and departing throughout the day and night, engaging in heavy intoxication. This situation has left the locals deeply worried, particularly about the safety of women and children navigating in the vicinity. The matter was brought to the attention of the police earlier, and raids were conducted to address the issue. However, the problem persisted despite these efforts. Furthermore, the area has now transformed into a hub for the illicit trade of alcoholic beverages.

On Wednesday, undercover cops from the NJP police station conducted a raid in the neighbourhood. During the raid, several managed to escape from the scene however one was taken into police custody. Meanwhile, the locals demanded the administration to provide a swift resolution to the situation.
