Police nab security guard on charges of theft in Siliguri, recovered stolen copper wire

Siliguri, 31st March: In a recent development, the cops of Bhakti Nagar police station have apprehended a security guard of an apartment on the charges of theft and recovered the stolen copper wire. The arrested accused has been identified as Akash Debnath, a resident of the area under the Pradhan Nagar police station.


According to police sources, the copper wire was allegedly stolen from an apartment located under the police station on March 29. Subsequently, a written complaint was lodged on Saturday at the Bhakti Nagar police station. The Bhakti Nagar police initiated an investigation and apprehended Akash Debnath with the stolen copper wire from Mahananda Bridge adjacent to Raja Rammohan Roy Road.

During the interrogation, the police learned that the accused Akash worked as a night guard in the apartment and stole the copper wire kept in the apartment. On Sunday, the accused was produced before Jalpaiguri Court, while the police are engaged in further investigation.
