Police hunt for miscreant of temple theft in Matigara, stolen items recovered within 4 days

Siliguri, 26th February: Within four days, the Matigara police have recovered the items stolen from the Karunamayi Kali temple located in the Tumbajote area of Matigara. However, no arrests have been made in connection to the case while the police are engaged in a hunt for the accused thief.


According to reports, on February 22, miscreants broke into the gate of the temple in Matigara’s Tumbajote region and made off with the puja utensils. Following this, on the 23rd, a written complaint was filed at the police station detailing the event. On Sunday night, the police conducted an investigation and retrieved a brass vessels stolen from the temple.

On Monday, the police handed over the stolen utensils to the temple management. As a result, the temple committee was elated over the recovery of the stolen items and acknowledged the role played by the police. At present, the entire incident is under further investigation.
