Siliguri, 19th March: The undercover police of Matigara police station have conducted a major raid on the drug trade. A day before, the police had arrested the distributor by running a campaign. On the other hand, the police also arrested the drug peddler of the distributor on the second day.
The accused has been identified as Ratan Das, a resident of Cooch Behar. It is to be noted that Jagtar Sahni, a resident of the Sutki Godown area of Matigara, had opened a cannabis factory inside her house. Jagtar Sahni used to get cannabis from outside and used to make small packets of cannabis in her house and sell it in the Siliguri market and was considered a distributor of cannabis in Siliguri.
As soon as the news of the same was received, the undercover police of Matigara police station launched a campaign on Friday night at Jagtar Sahni’s house and caught her while preparing packets of cannabis. After this, again based on a tip-off, the undercover police of Matigara police station launched an operation on Saturday night and arrested a person named Ratan Das.
Police have recovered a total of 10 kg of cannabis from the accused. According to the information received from the police sources, Ratan Das had reached Matigara with the drug from Cooch Behar in two bags. It is suspected that he had probably come to deliver the said drugs to Jagtar Sahni. In the evening, when he was going from Chandmuni New Chamta Bridge with drugs. Then the police caught him red-handed. Police registered a case against the accused under the NDPS Act and was presented in Siliguri court today.
