Siliguri, 13th May: In a significant breakthrough, the Panitanki Outpost police officials successfully arrested a notorious thief responsible for a string of thefts across Siliguri. The arrested accused has been identified as Brigen Tamang (28), originally a resident of Kalimpong.
According to reports, the accused Brigen Tamang has committed numerous thefts while operating from Jhankar More, Bagrakote, and Siliguri Junction areas of the city. On Sunday, the Panitanki Outpost obtained CCTV footage from a residential area on Hill Cart Road, revealing Tamang’s involvement in a recent theft of a washing machine.
Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Brigen Tamang from the area adjacent to Surya Sen Park. Upon interrogating the accused, the police learned about his criminal activities, including the recent theft of gold jewellery and cash from a residence in the Hakim Para area under Ward No. 16 of Siliguri. Additionally, Tamang confessed to stealing AC wires from various locations in the city with his associates.
The police recovered the stolen AC wires from his possession and initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. Meanwhile, the accused was presented before the Siliguri court on Monday.
