The Kolkata Police arrested a man for disguising himself as an Enforcement Directorate (ED) officer and allegedly trying to dupe Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Santanu Sen. The accused has been identified as Chandan Roy (38).
As per the report, Roy called the MP and told him that many cases were pending against him and also offered to help him in lieu of money. Based on a complaint lodged by the MP, the police arrested the impostor late Thursday near Esplanade Bus Terminus in Kolkata. The mobile phone, which the accused used to call Sen, was also seized.
Allegedly, Chandan Roy had tried to blackmail several other persons in the same way in the past as well. Further investigation has been launched on behalf of the police.
