Siliguri, 11th January: During a press conference at the Mainak Tourist Lodge in Siliguri today, the State Tourism Minister Goutam Deb said that the places in Siliguri has been renamed illegally. “The Mayor has changed the names of the roads without the permission of the State Government,” the Minister alleged.
Taking a dig at the Mayor, the Minister accused Bhattacharya of conducting illegal works in the city. “If Mayor Ashok Bhattacharya was to change the names of the places in Siliguri and rename them with names of great men, he should have informed the State Government first and should have sought permission,” the Minister further added.
