Pickup van overturned in Bagdogra, 50 tea workers injured, 1 dead

Bagdogra, 14th September: A pickup van with tea workers crashed after overturning leaving about 50 tea garden workers injured where one died in the accident. The accident took place on Bagdogra National Highway – 31. The deceased has been identified as Peter Trikey.


Reportedly, a pickup van with the workers was heading to the Gulma tea garden. Suddenly the van lost its control and overturned on National Highway-31 adjacent to Muni Tea Garden of Bagdogra. Due to this 50 workers in the pickup van were injured. The injured were rescued and rushed to Bagdogra Hospital, from where all were sent to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital. One of the injured lost his life.

Meanwhile, as soon as the incident was reported, the Bagdogra police reached the spot. With the help of a crane, the pickup van was retrieved and brought to the police station. Panchayat members including Pradhan Sanjeev Sinha also reached the spot. Police have started an investigation of the whole matter.
