Siliguri, 21st June: Manoj Basak, an employee of a jewellery shop was arrested after it was found that he was stealing ornaments from the same shop for the past few months. Manoj is a resident of Ward No. 40 Iskcon Road.
Upon suspicion, the shop owner, on Saturday, lodged a complaint at the Panitanki outpost police. Based on the complaint, the police launched investigations and got hold of Manoj within 24 hours.
The police also recovered several gold ornaments from Manoj possession. The market value of the stolen gold is estimated to be around 27 lakh rupees.
Manoj was produced in the court today and has been taken into police custody for 7 days.
