Siliguri, 02nd December: State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Dr. Ariz Aftab held a meeting with District Magistrates of three districts of North Bengal, Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Uttar Dinajpur at Circuit House today regarding upcoming Panchayat elections.
Reportedly, during the said meeting the present situation of the district and the peaceful conduct of Panchayat elections were discussed. After the meeting, it is being speculated that in late January or early February, the Election Commission may announce the dates for the State Election Commission Panchayat elections. However, it is not clear in how many phases the panchayat elections will be held.
CEO Dr. Ariz Aftab told reporters that in today’s meeting the preparation for the Panchayat elections was discussed. In which the complete voter list will be published on January 5.
