‘Only the wilfully blind are unaware of where I am and what I am doing,’ writes MP Raju Bista

Siliguri, 07th May: Hours after posters mocking Darjeeling MP emerged in various parts of the city, Raju Bista issued a press release in this context.

The MP began the statement by greeting the people on the occasion of Buddha Purnima and immediately addressed the issue. Bista wrote that while the whole world has united to fight against the pandemic, a certain section of ‘desperate hooligans’ backed by a political party prefers to indulge in petty politics. He fired back saying that he takes such personal attacks and desperation as a compliment.

The MP shut down all criticism on him being absent from his constituency amid such a crisis saying, “Everyone knows that currently I am in Delhi and serving the people of Darjeeling hills, Terai and Dooars spread all across the country and the world from here. Only the wilfully blind are unaware of where I am and what I am doing.”

Bista, without naming the particular political party, accused its leaders of preventing doctors, nurses and other medical staff from doing their duty, hiding COVID-19 facts, indulging in ration extortion, threatening journalists who write the truth and pasting posters against him instead of helping the common people. The MP described the posters as a diversion tactic to draw away people’s attention from the state government’s failures.
