One dead, four injured in road accident on Naxalbari-Kharibari highway

Naxalbari, 08th July: A tragic road accident occurred on the Naxalbari-Kharibari state highway near Rathkhola in Naxalbari, resulting in one fatality and four injuries. The incident happened when two bikes collided with a bridge under construction late Sunday night.


The deceased has been identified as Sumit Oraon, a resident of Sonachandi Tea Estate in Kharibari. The injured individuals are Kulit Oraon, Rahul Toppo, Amrit Oraon, and Anuraj Toppo, all from the same tea estate.


According to reports, two bikes crashed into the under-construction bridge in Buraganj, Kharibari, causing injuries to all five riders. The injured were immediately rescued and transported to Naxalbari Rural Hospital. Two of the seriously injured victims were then transferred to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH), where one succumbed to his injuries. The other is currently receiving treatment at NBMCH, while the remaining three are being treated at Naxalbari Hospital.


The police are investigating the incident to determine the cause of the accident.
