One arrested on the charge of smuggling leopard skin

Jalpaiguri, 24th February: Based on a tip-off, the Wildlife forest workers, on Tuesday, launched operations at Chalsa and arrested a person on the charges of smuggling leopard skin. The arrested accused has been identified as Amar Chandra Oraon, a resident of the factory line of Meteli Tea Garden. A leopard skin was recovered from his possession.


Ayon Chakraborty, Ranger of South Range under Jalpaiguri Garumara Wildlife Department, said that the arrested accused was produced at the Jalpaiguri court today and taken into custody for 10 days. An investigation has been launched into the incident. The leopard skin is being sent for forensic examination.
