Kharibari, 09th June: Kharibari police arrested an individual identified as Manik Barman on charges of kidnapping. The accused is a resident of Warish Jote of Kharibari. Notably, another individual named, Mani Barman was arrested earlier on 3rd of June on similar charges, following which, he was interrogated by taking into remand.
Reportedly, earlier, on 1st of June, Mrityunjay Adhikari was called over by his friend Mani Burman from Coochbehar. Subsequently, Mani was missing along with Mrityunjay. Later, Mani called Mrityunjay’s family and demanded a ransom for his release. After this, Mrityunjay’s family lodged a complaint in the police station. On the basis of the complaint, Mani was arrested by the police.
Meanwhile, during further investigation, the name of Manik came to the fore, after which, he was also arrested by the police by undertaking an operation. Today, the accused have been produced before the Siliguri Divisional Court, while, further investigations underway.
