One arrested for duping youths under pretext of providing a job in PWD in Siliguri

Siliguri, 23rd November: A person has been arrested for duping unemployed youths in the name of providing jobs in PWD. The accused has been identified as Jameel Akhtar.


Reportedly, Jameel used to introduce himself as the ‘messiah of the unemployed’ to the youths in rural areas. Jameel would then take the youths into confidence by assuring them of providing a government job. After this, he would dupe them of lakhs of rupees and would disappear. 

Allegedly, Jameel swindled Rs 27 lakh from about 9 unemployed youths of Siliguri under the pretext of government jobs. Yesterday, Jameel reached Phansidewa with the same motive but before he could carry on with his swindling spree, the victimized youths apprehended him and handed him over to Phansidewa police station.


Today Phansidewa police produced the accused in Siliguri court, from where the court directed to keep the accused Jameel Akhtar on police remand for 14 days.
