One arrested for duping people with fake job promise in Siliguri

Siliguri, 16th March: An individual has been arrested for cheating people by demanding money for offering jobs in Siliguri. The arrested accused has been remanded in police custody after being presented in the court, today.


According to the information received, it has been alleged that an office, in Siliguri’s Haidar Para, used to demand money for offering jobs. It has been alleged that, before getting employed, they used to demand an amount of 20 thousand rupees for providing training. Around 40-50 unemployed youths have been the victims of the fraud, so far. It has also been alleged that, after being employed, the officers would disappear and no salary would be provided to them.

The arrested Branch Manager of the office, Sudeep Bose, stated that the office was closed after the death of the owner of the company. When the youths contacted the other branches of the office in Guwahati and Kolkata, they found that they were being duped with fake job promises. In this context, a complaint was lodged against 4 individuals at the Panitanki Town Out Post.


Based on the complaint, the police arrested the Branch Manager of the office, Sudeep Bose. According to the police sources, an investigation is being carried out and the chief suspect is also being searched.
