Siliguri, 01st December: The 40th North Bengal Book Fair will commence on December 02 and till December 11 under the aegis of Greater Siliguri Publishers and Book Sellers Welfare Association. The said fair will be held at the Mela Ground of Kanchenjunga Stadium and will have 70 stalls. Along with this, cultural programs will be organized every evening.
Siliguri’s Mayor and Chief Advisor of the fair Goutam Deb informed about this by holding a press conference on Thursday at the premises of Kanchenjunga Stadium. He said that the present society especially the upcoming generation is bound to the internet and has stopped taking an interest in books. Thus, they organize book fairs for the new generation to make them interested.
At the same time, he said that a grand procession would also be taken out on December 03 during the book fair. He added that famous painter and actor Devshankar Haldar would inaugurate the fair, while music composer Shramana Guha Thakurta would also be present.
