Siliguri, 07th June: State minister Agnimitra Paul arrived in North Bengal on a one-day visit on Sunday and landed at Bagdogra Airport in the morning.
Speaking to reporters at the airport, Paul said Trinamool Congress leaders are being forced to hear slogans of “chor chor”. Alleging that TMC leaders had indulged in extortion and loot, she said such a situation was inevitable and claimed that people have already delivered their verdict through votes. She added that she stands with the people.
The minister alleged that the Mamata Banerjee government remained busy with celebrations. Referring to the first meeting chaired by Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, she said it had made it clear that North Bengal would no longer be neglected and that the hills would receive greater attention.
Paul said she would review the situation in Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri and Mirik during her visit. She also stated that alleged irregularities in municipal recruitments would be looked into and their fairness assessed.
