Non digital ration card holders stage protest outside Borough-V office

Siliguri, 06th May: Locals staged a demonstration outside the Borough-V office under Siliguri Ward No. 40 alleging that despite applying for digital ration cards, their cards have not yet been printed; due to which the people are not being able to collect ration.

In light of the COVID-19 crisis, the government had announced to provide free ration to the digital ration cardholders for the next 6 months.

The furious protesters further alleged that the administration had earlier assured the ration card applicants of providing tokens, with the help of which they could be able to collect free ration during the lockdown period. However, they complained of still being deprived of tokens and hence staged a protest today.

Meanwhile, the Borough-V official Jewel Sarkar stated that as per the government instructions, they are currently providing ration to the ones having digital cards and tokens. He further asked the protestors to contact the food supply office for the required help as they have no say in this regard.
