Siliguri, 07th May: Another dacoit, identified as Anup Das has been arrested in connection with the robbery case at the Jiaganj petrol pump.
It is to recall that on January 26, the employees of the Jiaganj petrol pump adjacent to Fulbari sighted few suspicious men loitering around the petrol pump premises and immediately informed the NJP Police.
Upon receiving the news, the NJP police launched a covert operation and arrested 2 dacoits when they attempted to flee away from the scene. A pickup van along with some sharp weapons was recovered from their possession. However, more than 4-5 people escaped.
Later, the police launched further investigations and got hold of the other accused Anup Das alias Akshay. It has been learned that the gang is involved behind various criminal activities including robbery, theft, and car smuggling. The arrested accused was produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Thursday.
