Siliguri, 30th March: NJP police arrested a youth with firearms, on Tuesday evening. The arrested accused has been identified as Gopa Sarkar alias Rintu, a resident of Michael Madhusudan Colony.
It is learned that a youth was seen wandering around in the Goalabasti area under NJP police station. Police, acting on a tip-off, raided the said area and detained the youth. A 7 mm automatic pistol and two rounds of ammunition were recovered from his possession. Following this, he was arrested.
According to police sources, the accused youth is said to have various past criminal records. He has been sent to Jalpaiguri court today. NJP police have started an investigation into the whole incident.
