Siliguri, 30th May: In an action against land mafias’ the police of NJP Police Station arrested two individuals on charges of encroaching government land. The arrested have been identified as Lal Babu Sah of Jyoti Nagar Colony and Shubhankar Mallick, a resident of Durga Nagar, Siliguri.
According to reports, both the accused were engaged in illegal construction by occupying government land in Adhikar Pally of Fulbari-1 Zone, following which, area Panchayat Pradhan Namita Karati reported the matter at the NJP police station.
Subsequently, on the basis of the complaint, NJP police arrested both the land mafia on Monday night. A JCB was also seized by the police. Both the accused were produced before the Jalpaiguri court on Tuesday. Police are engaged in further investigation.
