NJP Police arrest three for theft of construction materials using vehicle with government board

Siliguri, 06th July: New Jalpaiguri Police have arrested three persons for allegedly stealing construction materials using a vehicle bearing a government board. The arrested individuals have been identified as Sudhanay Roy, Ajay Barman and Sujoy Roy.

According to police sources, on July 4, construction materials were stolen from the North Bengal Tea Park located in the Bhola More area of Sahudangi near New Jalpaiguri Railway Station. Following a written complaint, police initiated an investigation into the incident.

Acting on leads, police intercepted a vehicle displaying a government board on Sunday. After questioning the occupants, all three were taken into custody.

During interrogation, police recovered a large portion of the stolen construction materials, weighing around 290 kg, from the Kashmir Colony area.

Police are also investigating how the government-marked vehicle was used in the theft and whether more individuals are involved in the incident.

On Monday, the three accused were produced before the Jalpaiguri court, while investigation into the case is ongoing.
