Siliguri, 24th August: Police arrested a man from the Naresh More area of Siliguri in connection with the alleged theft of gold jewellery from a doctor’s house in Cooch Behar. The arrested person has been identified as Suman Mondal.
According to police sources, several gold ornaments were recently stolen from the doctor’s house in Cooch Behar. The doctor subsequently lodged a written complaint at Cooch Behar Police Station, following which police launched an investigation.
During the investigation, Cooch Behar Police initially arrested two persons. Interrogation of the arrested persons reportedly led police to important information, including the name of a jewellery shop in the Naresh More area under Ashighar Police Outpost in Siliguri.
Police allege that Suman Mondal, who was associated with the jewellery shop, had collected the stolen gold and sold it.
Following the information, Cooch Behar Police, with assistance from Ashighar Police Outpost, conducted a raid in the area on Monday and arrested Suman Mondal.
After his arrest, he was taken to Cooch Behar for further investigation.
