Siliguri, 29th March: NJP police arrested a man with teak wood worth lakhs of rupees from a jute-laden lorry. The arrested accused has been identified as Mobarik Hussain.
As per the report, the police received a tip-off that teak wood worth lakhs was being transported from Assam to Kolkata in a lorry. Based on this, the police raided the Fulbari Jatiyakali area and detained the lorry. 500 CST teak wood was recovered from the vehicle. Lorry driver Mubarik was arrested in the incident.
According to police sources, the estimated market value of the recovered timber is Rs 25 lakh. He was sent to Jalpaiguri court on Tuesday.
