NJP police arrest one from Odisha with 10 stolen mobile phones

Siliguri, 24th March: The NJP police arrested a man from Odisha on the charges of burglary he committed in Siliguri. The arrested accused has been identified as Kanaiya Pradhan.


As per the report, on February 28, Joy Prakash Gupta, a mobile trader, was returning home with 14 new mobile phones after closing his shop at night. Several youths allegedly blocked his way at the Bhaktinagar area and snatched all the mobile phones at gunpoint.


After the incident, Joy Prakash Gupta lodged a written complaint at the NJP police station. Based on the allegation, the police launched an investigation and learned that the case had a link with a gang in Odisha.

Based on this information, a team of NJP police reached the Purbakote area of Odisha’s Jajpur district and successfully got hold of a gang member. 10 stolen mobiles were seized from his possession.

The arrested individual was taken on transit remand from Odisha to NJP police station on Tuesday. He was sent to Jalpaiguri court on Wednesday. An investigation has been launched into the whole incident.
