Siliguri, 05th February: The NJP police arrested six men in connection to the conflict that occurred at NJP dry port on Thursday. The arrested accused have been identified as Manoj Pal (42), Ratan Das (55), Mohammad Saifuddin (42), Manik Kandan (20), Ravi (35), and Sikandar Mandal (34). They were produced before the Jalpaiguri court today.
It is to be noted that the INTTUC workers, on Thursday, staged a protest in front of the land port gate demanding recruitment of local workers. They alleged that the port authorities use other vehicles and have appointed workers from other areas. As no step was taken despite notifying the management, the INTTUC staged a protest. Following this, a scuffle broke out between the two parties.
