Rajganj, 26th May: In a shocking incident, a married couple committed suicide by consuming poison. Notably, the couple had been married for just a year now. The incident surfaced from Menghara village under Mantadari Gram Panchayat of Rajganj. The deceased couple has been identified as Jiarul Mohammad and Alima Khatoon.
According to family sources, Jiarul Mohammad and Alima Khatoon married after befriending one another a year ago. Jiarul was a mason by profession and is survived by his parents and elder siblings in the family.
Reportedly, on Wednesday night, Jiarul and Alima went to sleep after having dinner. Later at night the family members, alarmed by the scream of Jiarul, rushed for help fearing something untoward, and discovered that the couple had consumed poison. Without delay, they were taken to North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for medical attention, however, the couple breathe their last on Thursday. In this regard, the family members are unable to ascertain why the couple has taken such an extreme step.
