New stoppage of Kanchankanya Express inaugurated at Naxalbari Railway Station by MP Raju Bista

Naxalbari, 27th May: After a prolonged anticipation, the Kanchankanya Express has finally commenced its new stoppage at Naxalbari Railway Station. On Saturday, Darjeeling district Member of Parliament (MP), Raju Bista, formally inaugurated the new stop for the Sealdah-Alipurduar Kanchankanya Express.


The inauguration ceremony witnessed the presence of Matigara-Naxalbari MLA Anandamoy Barman, Assistant Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM) Sanjay Chilwarwar, members of Naxalbari Vyavasaya Samiti, and several Railway officials.

ADRM Sanjay Chilwarwar stated that the Kanchankanya Express would halt at Naxalbari station for a trial period of one month. The decision to introduce stoppages for other trains will be evaluated based on ticket sales and passenger movement.


MP Raju Bista acknowledged the historical significance of Naxalbari station and emphasized that the introduction of the Kanchankanya stoppage was in response to the people’s demands. He expressed his belief that this development would greatly benefit the local community, including ordinary citizens, local businesses, travellers, and Nepali students.
