Siliguri, 07th June: A newly constructed clock tower at the bustling Panitanki More in Siliguri was inaugurated on Sunday in a grand ceremony attended by State Minister Shankar Ghosh and Mayor Goutam Deb. The project was undertaken on the initiative of Lions International District 322F.
Several prominent personalities were present at the inauguration, including Quazi Samsuddin Ahamed, former International Director of Lions International G.S. Hora, and District Governor Suresh Kumar Agarwal.
Speaking on the occasion, District Governor Suresh Kumar Agarwal said that the construction of the clock tower was the result of three to four years of dedicated planning, effort, and collaboration.
State Minister Shankar Ghosh praised the initiative, stating that such public-oriented projects not only enhance the beauty of the city but also serve the interests of its residents.
Mayor Goutam Deb highlighted the importance of cooperation between social organizations and the administration, saying that such joint efforts provide fresh momentum to the city’s development.
The newly installed clock tower is expected to become a prominent landmark at Panitanki More, serving both a practical purpose and adding to Siliguri’s urban identity and aesthetic appeal. Local residents also welcomed the initiative, describing it as a valuable addition and a significant gift to the city.
