Siliguri, 07th January: After arresting four land mafia on charges of grabbing and selling government land, Naxalbari police today arrested three more, including a woman.
It is to be noted, the Naxalbari Land and Land Revenue Department had lodged a complaint at the Naxalbari police station about receiving information about government land being sold without the knowledge of the administration. Based on the complaint, the police engaged in the investigation and arrested people initially and then three more today.
The identities of the accused have been disclosed as Narayan Chowdhary (61), Pavitra Rana (53) and Anees Khan (45). They are residents of Surajbar Jote and Barjharu Jote. According to police sources, campaigns against land grabbers will run continuously.
