Mystery surrounds woman’s death in Siliguri’s Prakash Nagar

Siliguri, 07th March: Sensation prevailed in the area after the dead body of a woman was found hanging from the noose in Prakash Nagar of Ward No. 43 under Siliguri Municipal Corporation. The deceased has been identified as Neha Begum alias Asha (43). 


According to the decedent’s family members, Neha Begum alias Asha was subjected to brutal physical assault and mental torture by her in-laws. Allegedly, her family members also sort help from the police and several times lodged a complaint in the police station. Even the locals backed the claims made by Neha’s relatives. The family members and the local people alleged that the incident is not a case of suicide but a case of murder.

Meanwhile, a team of police from the Bhakti Nagar police station reached the spot after getting information about the incident. After recovering the body, the police were leaving to take it to the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem, when the relatives of the decedent woman sat in front of the ambulance and protested. The woman’s brother and the locals demonstrated demanding the immediate arrest of the accused in-laws at the earliest. 


Furthermore, the vehicle of Bhakti Nagar police station was also vandalized due to stone-pelting. To unravel this mysterious death, Bhakti Nagar Police has started an investigation into the incident.
